I have no idea what the origin name of the menu, so literally Patlicanli sote Yogurtlu means sautéed eggplant with yogurt. This menu was inspired by one of my office mate, her name is Asli (pronounced: asle, e is like you say i in girl), and she is Turkish by the way. One day I only brought bread and a slice of cheese, poor sandwich. Hahaha to be honest I had no time to cook for lunch. Kind Asl? shared her mother-cooked meal with me, even the yogurt. Okay, I would say the taste was awesome.
On the other day in Québec cold nuance, when I was walking home from skating, I passed small market next to the Frontenac metro station. It sold fresh vegetables and “produit au Canada” was labeled there, magnifique!! The eggplant was really cheap there, with no hesitation I bought a couple grams then. Oh yeah the apples was perfect, the moist, the taste, simple yet one of the best apple I ‘ve ever eaten.
Anyway, arrived at home, inspired by mother-cooked Asli’s meal, I prepare all the things I could imagine. Here are the ingredients:
- Eggplant
- Carrot
- Onion
- Garlic
- Tomato sauce
- Salt and black pepper
- Vegetable oil
- Chicken drum stick as a compliment, hehehe
- And of course a bucket plain yogurt.
How to cook:
- Slice the eggplant as your favorite shape, I recommend not to small. Around 2” x 2” would be perfect on me. (I think steamer would be better.)
- Boil the carrot first and the eggplant little bit.
- Sauté the garlic in veg oil.
- Next add the sliced eggplant and sliced onion.
- Add a heaping teaspoon of salt.
- Pour tomato sauce, then black pepper.
- Cook and stir.
- At the same time you may fry the drumstick.
- After several minutes, voila the Patlicanli sote Yogurtlu is ready to be served.
- Do not forget to put yogurt.
I brought this kind of aldin-agabey meal to the office and asked the office mates to validate it as a proper meal to be eaten. Tesekkür ederim. Iyi aksamlar hocam!!
